The Linssen Variotop range of Grand Sturdy motor yachts, 13.7m (450 AC), 14.95m (480 AC) and 16.45m (500 AC) in overall lengths, represents a most significant achievement in luxurious comfort, design and construction – of which the beautiful 500 AC is the largest and grandest example. They are the flagships of the Linssen fleet and their unique feature is the Variotop retracting wheelhouse roof.
All three have an AC Aft Cabin configuration, the 500 AC having three bedroom cabins – a spacious master bedroom suite and a similarly ample guest bedroom suite, plus a twin-bedded side cabin. The overall size of the 500 AC means that, even with a three cabin layout, all areas of the motor yacht are very generously sized, with plenty of room to relax and enjoy.

Styling, equipment, choice of materials and finishing are all of Linssen level, as is customary and just as you would expect. Linssen makes no concessions when it comes to quality. You can see that in the saloon with the saloon bench and table, in the spacious galley with all equipment you will need and in the L-dinette with functional dining table for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
If there’s one characteristic of the Variotop series that stands out, it is the spacious guestroom suite. It includes a large double bed surrounded by a lot of storage space, a separate shower and a separate toilet space. All this is completely divided off from the other compartments, so that privacy is guaranteed. Consequently, the 500 is an extremely pleasant boat for sailing with guests for a short or longer period.
The master state bedroom for the captain-owner is even more spacious and includes a wide double bed. It has access to its own wet room with electric toilet, washbasin and shower. Here too there is plenty of cupboard space and, as the icing on the cake, a lounge/office corner for two people. The passageway from the aft cabin to the saloon contains even more storage space.

A Luxury Motor Yacht that feels like a Roadster
The Variotop is a folding roof that covers the wheelhouse so that it is completely watertight and insulated thanks to ingenious locking and sealing systems. Close the Variotop and the wheelhouse doors and the open helmsman’s position is instantly transformed into a heated Variotop wheelhouse where it is a pleasure to be. On a warm summer’s day, just cruising along, the boat gently rolling at anchor or leisurely moored to the quay, the Variotop – now like a fully fledged bimini top – provides wonderful cool shade.
A motor yacht equipped with a Linssen Variotop® is actually a very special combination of an inside and outside helmsman’s position and a fly-bridge. With a Variotop you are sailing “outside” and you can combine the aft deck or open cockpit with the wheelhouse to form one big external space. If the weather gods are less well disposed towards you, just close the Variotop, and you will actually be connecting the helmsman’s position to the aft cabin, creating an impressive internal space. Linssen Easysleep Feature
AC Aft Cabin and SE Sedan Linssen motor yacht types are equipped with the EASY SLEEP CONVERT SYSTEM. This system enables you to convert the saloon settee seat into a full-size double bed in no time at all. By simply removing the saloon table and cushions, you can pull the settee out, and a slatted base appears automatically. Replace the cushions again to create a comfortable bed for two people.

Linssen Variotop 450, 480 and 500 models are stable and easily manoeuvrable motor yachts on which you can cruise many of the inland waterways, rivers, canals and lakes of Europe. They are also CE rated as ‘B’ – built to navigate on the offshore waters (200 miles and less) and can sustain wind conditions up to force 8 and wave conditions up to 4 metres high.

Linssen CCH Compartment Controlled Heating Feature
Most boats include a heating system; at many times of the year this is a necessity. There are many types, none of them completely satisfactory, and Linssen have talked to customers, analysed their experiences, and set some critical performance and specification requirements.
The result is the digitally controlled Linssen CCH heating system, available on 12m boats and above. Each space (compartment) in the boat has its own heat source, with two thermostats – for public spaces and for private cabins and facilities – on timers.
The heat source (diesel and battery powered) is efficient and very quiet. The system is reliable and easy to service, with low maintenance costs, and demoisturises to reduce condensation. The Linssen CCH heating system guarantees a quiet, efficient, powerful, low-energy and user-friendly experience.
Linssen ICCESS- Integrated CAN-bus Controlled Electric Supply System
Like modern automobiles and trucks, ship and boat-building is increasingly using CAN-bus (Controller Area Network) systems. This allows electronic devices to communicate with each other without the need for a separate cable for each communication flow. It’s a great idea and provides users with exceptionally fast, accurate and comprehensive information, to set operational parameters and control performance.
With long experience, Linssen have modified CAN-bus exploit its advantages (for example, a vast reduction in complicated, difficult to repair cabling) whilst reducing unnecessary over-sophistication such that any technician, even without CAN-bus experience, can fault-find, repair and maintain.
